        As 2025 ends, it is time to take stock of our effort in the first year of the Trump regime and prepare for our efforts in the next year. It has been difficult for America. The nation has seen the rolling back of civil liberties, the mass kidnapping of immigrants and citizens alike, and assault on anyone who stood up to them. And, perhaps most depressingly of all, it has seen the power of Trump and the GOP continue. After repeated and blatant violations of the constitution, Trump is still in power, his thugs still have their offices, and his party still controls the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court.

        And yet, there is hope. Even a regime needs support, and Trump's approval has collapsed to -17% in his first year alone- as bad as his approval at the end of his first term. The people turned out overwhelmingly against him in the 50501 protests, in the No Kings protests, and in hundreds of other throughout his first year. When ICE came to kidnap and assault, people moved to halt them. Trump has withdrawn troops sent to occupy American cities. The blue wave of 2025 saw Democrats sweep elections, making dramatic gains over the Republican party. And as the 2026 midterms draw near, the GOP has no way to better its situation but to better the situation of the American people- something they are both unwilling and unable to do. America has not accepted the situation forced on it, and across the nation, people are moving against the regime in a thousand ways. We will see a victory in the new year, if we are willing to seize it. The chance to restore American values of equality and democracy to the American government lies withing reach. We need only take it.

        The rights of migrants will be under assault, just the same as they were in 2025. ICEmap and StopICE.net both track the movement of this illegal force as it makes its way across our nation. Spread information about them so the people who need them can find it, and- if need be- contribute to it when you see ICE in your community. Meanwhile, while the legal rights of migrants are being blatantly ignored, every resource they have is one that is important. The tarjetas rojas provide a legal guide that can fit into the palm of a hand, while AOC's Know Your Rights website provides more comprehensive information. If ICE comes to your community and a protest forms, join carefully as they will not hesitate to resort to violence. The 50501 movement has a safety guide, as well as a guide on how to organize a protest in the first place.

        The Democratic establishment has proven itself unable or unwilling to take a meaningful stand against the Trump regime. It needs to be removed as much as the Republicans. While the current regime takes priority, we cannot exchange a fascist for someone who will happily concede to the fascists. As the midterms arrive, we must primary all Democrats and make them prove that they will fight for the American people. The national group Run For Something support progressive candidates across the nation as they struggle against not only Republicans but the corrupt political establishment. The Young Democrats of America, meanwhile, are accepting donations and direct volunteering, giving you the chance to support candidates from inside the Democratic party, while the Democracy Alliance organizes funding for Democratic candidates across the spectrum.

        Last but not least, a protest is being planned for January 20th, the one year anniversary of Trump's swearing in. As the new year begins, we must make it known that our outcry against this regime is as strong as ever. We will enter it with a strong and clear rejection of Trump, his administration, and all the Republicans and Democrats who have collaborated with him.
