           The SAVE act has reached the Senate floor. While the act has been discussed on the Green Dragon previously, to recap, it requires people to have proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, to vote. While an innocuous seeming request, it is one only meant to restrict voting rights.  21 million American citizens - 9% of eligible voters- do not have easy access to these documents, and getting one is being made difficult by orders handed down by the State Department for nonprofit libraries to  stop processing passport requests . Meanwhile, the 9% likely undersells the impart this will have- what about people who's name doesn't match their documents? What about women who took their spouses last name, people who have transitioned, people who have simply exercised their right to change their name?
