The SAVE act has reached the Senate floor. While the act has been discussed on the Green Dragon previously, to recap, it requires people to have proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, to vote. While an innocuous seeming request, it is one only meant to restrict voting rights. 21 million American citizens- 9% of eligible voters- do not have easy access to these documents, and getting one is being made difficult by orders handed down by the State Department for nonprofit libraries to stop processing passport requests. Meanwhile, the 9% likely undersells the impart this will have- what about people who's name doesn't match their documents? What about women who took their spouses last name, people who have transitioned, people who have simply exercised their right to change their name? It costs anywhere from $65 - $165 to change the details of a passport, while changing a birth certificate is impossible.

The intent behind this is undeniable. Civiqs, a polling group, places his net approval at -18%. The 2025 blue wave was not a fluke, with a democrat winning a state senate election by 15% in a district Trump won by 17%. The Trump regime cannot improve its situation with voters enough to save it, and so they plan to keep voters from ousting them. This cannot be allowed.

The Trump regime has yet to fully end democracy. There is still a chance to turn them back. Register to vote as soon as possible, and get proof of citizenship if you don't have it- the government is, for now, still issuing papers that qualify, while travel.state.gov has instructions on how to do so up for the time being. If you already are registered to vote, keep track of every election, no matter how small, as every victory against the Trump regime and their collaborators matters. Ballotpedia tracks election happening all across the country. Meanwhile, the Senate democrats and a handful of republicans seem to have found their spine and are resisting the SAVE act for now. You can use the Find your Member site to learn who your senator is. Contact them, whether they be a democrat or republican, and demand they maintain their opposition to this act of voter suppression5calls, an online resource, offers guides on how to lobby your representative and senators on this and other issues.

Meanwhile, protests are being planned for the upcoming months. A third No Kings protest has already been scheduled for the 28th of March. Many other events are planned before or afterwards, and can be found on the 50/50/1 website. If you and your community can't wait, the Immigration Defense Project has a guide on how to carry out community defense. Any and all acts of resistance against this regime must be taken.

        God bless America.
