        Last Sunday House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries met with Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and close ally of his. The details of this meeting have not been made clear, but after failing the American people so many times, Jeffries does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. Kushner is not a member of any branch of the government, he is merely a member of the monied interests backing Trump. This is not a legitimate meeting with fellow politicians to bring about policy, this is a backrooms deal directly with the Trump regime. The Trump regime is on the backfoot, and the midterms are only two months away. This meeting threatens all the momentum that has been building towards meaningful change. Any backroom deals with them will lead to concessions, and any concessions to this regime are a betrayal of the American people.

        The Democratic Party is still the best chance America has at the reform it deserves- the best the alternatives have ever had to offer is Ralph Nader, who won the election of 2000 for George Bush- but it must be interested in that reform. There are a variety of groups working to advance genuine liberal causes in the Democratic Party. Our Revolution was formed in 2016 to advance the campaign of Bernie Sanders and has continued to this day supporting progressive candidates in primary and general elections, while Run for Something was formed after Trump's inauguration to support progressive candidates to counter the MAGA movement. The States Project, meanwhile, works to bring Democrats to power on a state level and create local power to advance liberal policies. All of these groups are accepting volunteered funds and time, and those who can should contribute to them however they can.

        Meanwhile, ICE has arrested a record breaking 50 thousand this July, an average of 1500 per day. This abuse of those seeking the American dream is being lauded by conservative media in their open embrace of ethno-nationalism and xenophobia and must be resisted by every patriot in America. The 50/50/1 movement has a guide on how to respond to ICE in your community safely and effectively- a dead patriot can defend no one. If you wish to report ICE, use internet spaces connected to your local community and the SALUTE format, which gathers allows for critical information to be gathered effectively. Gather for Good works to organize aid to migrant families fearing for their safety in a country whose government is increasingly hostile to the huddle masses yearning to breathe free.
